Jones fracture is an extra-articular fracture at the base of the fifth metatarsal bone, the bone on the foot’s outer side. This specific foot fracture occurs due to foot twist, a sudden increase in high-impact activity, or a high-impact force placed on the foot.
Geneva, a charming lady and a new friend of ours, was in a bus accident that left her with a Jones fracture. She broke a bone in her foot in two pieces and needed fixation. Geneva experienced all symptoms typical for this condition: pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty walking.
The outer side of the foot is an area that has a low blood supply. Therefore, the recovery process is slower than in other types of fractures. Before coming to Kings Pоint Foot and Ankle, Geneva experienced pain for six months. Exhausted from the unpleasant suffering, Geneva decided to find a permanent solution to her problem.
Luckily, she found Dr. Benjamin Tehrani, one of the best podiatrist in LA. After the initial appointment, Dr. Benji recommended proceeding with surgery to heal the foot.
“We closed the fracture and placed a screw to hold it in place. Geneva is now done with therapy, wearing her summer sandals again feeling like she did before the surgery,” said Dr. Benji.
We are thrilled to have helped this lady enjoy life without pain, walking in her favorite summer shoes.
